Ocean investment matters more than ever.
Our #oceans generate 50% of our #oxygen, absorb 25% of #co2emissions, and capture 90% of excess #heat. Yet, funding for the #blueeconomy is falling short. The #worldeconomicforum estimates that $175 billion per year is required to reach #SDG14 by 2023, but we've invested only around $10 billion from 2015 to 2019. While recent strides in land-based #aquaculture and debt-for-nature swaps are promising, and funds like SWEN Capital Partners' Blue Ocean Fund show increasing willingness among #investors, the scale of investment needed is still overwhelming.
