Impact Blog 20.11.2022

COP27 started yesterday. Like many people out there, I am very critical that with the present momentum and motivation there is no way that humanity will be able to keep global warming limited to 2C as agreed upon in the Paris Agreement of 2015.

To be fair, we should remember that we were talking of an average temperature rise of 4,5 to 8C in the early 2000´s. 😊

So maybe, we should stop for a moment and appreciate what we have achieved till now, especially with our decrease in dependence on fossil fuels, etc.

During one of our previous TV Shows (swissimpact.tv) when we were discussing with Prof. Dr. Petteri Taalas, there was even a discussion here and there of the transition to 1,5C.

In conclusion, we do still have a long way to go to mitigate the world’s climate change. Luckily it seems that we are at the center of an ongoing worldwide shift in global awareness.
